How about the idea where 'YOU' get an opportunity to decide what public works should be allocated money for? 

Punekars have got this opportunity owing to Pune Municipal Corporation's unique initiative of Participatory Budget in which citizens are involved in the process of suggesting public works and accepted suggestions have separate budgetary provisions.

Parivartan along with other organizations like National Society for Cities, carried out awareness sessions about the Participatory Budget in housing societies, worked at the grass root level and collected suggestions from citizens of various ward offices.

For the budget 2010-11, we collected 6500 suggestions as compared to a mere 1500 suggestions for budget 2009-10. This narrates the huge success of the project.
